I use to feel like a mama who always had a to-do list a mile long and often felt behind...
NOT ANYMORE! Not long ago I chose to BE more!
I chose to do something about it!
What was the point of looking forward to marriage and parenthood, only to feel like I wasn't good enough and putting myself in a place where I felt overwhelmed, tired, unfulfilled, and all the things?
It's kind of like really craving the best burger and someone decided sweet pickles belonged instead of DILL!!! Okay, maybe not that extreme, but you get it! The momentum, the excitement builds, only to be SQUASHED!
I didn't want to look back and remember how excited I was to enter marriage and parenthood and as time progressed, feeling the excitement dwindle and lessen.
AND, that may not be you, and that wasn't always me, but I'll admit, I had those moments of "what's the point?"
Yes, I often felt busy and I thought that gave me a sense of importance, security, and love. It felt like that was just life, that's how it was suppose to be, that's just my life as a wife and mother.
But, those "Super Mom" days really made me feel like it was all worth it. You know those... you get so much done, everything just seemed to go right that day and then some.
But why not have those "Super Mom" days every day?
I am here because I wish I would've had someone in my corner who really got it, who would've knocked me upside the head a few times, spoke to my heart in a way that truly got my heart and my feet moving!
Have a day where I stay in pj's and stay in with the kids, Super Me.
Have a day when I get all the errands taken care of, meal prep, help a friend, get ahead on my scripture study, clean, do some laundry, and take a nap when the kids napped, Super Me.
Have a day where I cut back on activities for the kids because I need a little extra me time, Super Me.
Have a day when all the kids experience big emotions and they tell me I don't do enough for them and they wish Dad was home, Super Me.
And you know the list goes on...
But the outcome can be a Super Me every, time.
I don't always look put together like some of those dolled up mamas at the park.
I don't always make 5 course meals for dinner.
My kids' hair isn't always styled and cute.
My kids don't always wear brand names, heck, sometimes they don't even have shoes on when we go to the store.
I don't have the fancy nursery for my little one.
I don't have all the put together decor all over the house that I would be proud to show off.
I don't have a fancy car.
I don't have kids who let me match them with each other and myself all the time.
I don't have all the family photos I wish I had made a priority since the kiddos were little.
I don't know how to do my hair and make up.
I don't...
This and more use to be what I thought made me important, thinking the opposite of all this would truly make me happy and fulfilled.
Do I still want some of this? Yes.
Do I still try to achieve some of this? Yes.
But it doesn't change my worth.
I am here because I am a messy, loud, embarrassing, courageous, messy bun/ponytail wearing, awesome human being who knows I can help people by being me!
I don't get it right every time.
I am not perfect (thank all the goodness).
I make mistakes, and plenty of them.
I apologize often, because of said mistakes.
Sometimes I say no.
I make sure I get my ME time in everyday, whether a few hours or 5 minutes.
Sometimes that glass of water I filled in the morning sits a little too long.
I'm pretty sure I have a shirt in my closet from high school.
I taught myself how to be okay farting in front of my family after two years of marriage.
My favorite food is strawberries and I know they are #1 in the dirty dozen but I still eat them!
AND THAT'S OKAY!
I have detached from a mindset of people pleasing and am learning how to run towards a version of me who lives life for me FIRST. Well, Jesus comes first, then me... THEN everyone else, and that has brought me so much more joy and fulfillment than all the efforts I used trying to be someone else's someone.
I have to be at my best in order to give my best to others.
I am going to jump in here knowing that my ideas and experiences can help someone, whether a pump up "You've Got This" post, an idea or activity that can bring a little more connection to your day with your kids or spouse or friend, maybe a recipe or a few, games we like to play, books we like to read, the things that may be small to many, that help make our day to day an adventure, a day of gratitude, a day worth being "for the books."
First idea I have for you, detach.
Detach from who you think other people want you to be and the idea of being perfect.
Do something this week that makes you a little uncomfortable but gets you closer to being a stronger, happier, more fulfilled YOU.
Do something for YOU.
And please share!
This is beautifully UNEDITED.
Treasure the adventure!
