DISCLAIMER: I'm using my blog to help me get back into journal writing, but until I make it more of a habit, I will be posting here, instead of actually, physically writing. When you see the **** from now on, that will be the indication of my spiritual adventure for the day. Some call it a spiritual thought, some, a spiritual moment, but I want to call it a spiritual adventure, because I think these moments we ponder and think and reach an "ah-ha" or a "eureka," it's so much more than that, and will shape us for the rest of our lives, if we chose to let it.

September 10
What a day... I was able to help Bryce experience the amazingness of BoBo's this morning, with Danielle and Phil. He had never been and Danielle and I had been there multiple times, usually together even. They have awesome banana pancakes. Bryce decided to get an apple pancake but I let him try mine so he could know what both tasted like. He liked the apple better, and was still very pleased with it all. The deal is, you can just get one pancake, with nothing else, and still barely be able to finish it. It's as big as the plate and it has cinnamon sugar all over it, that cooks into the pancake and makes it delicious! You don't go there very often because it's as though you are eating dessert for breakfast, but I feel as though it's in everyone's best interest if they at least experience BoBo's once. ;)
I was asked to come in at 9, it was almost 8 by the time we finished eating, and Bryce was asked to be part of a service project just down the street. So, I decided I would just go with him, sit in the car for a while, then drive to work. So I caught up on my emails and all the other notifications I had received.  Then I received a message telling me to come into work at 9:30. So I did my best to fall asleep so the time would go by faster. It took a while, and kind of didn't work because it was warm outside. Finally the time came, and I left for work. When I got there only Catherine and Matt and Farani were working. Not long after I actually clocked in, Catherine told me it would just be us working today, that no one else was coming in. I don't know if it's the emotions or the hormone imbalance or whatever, but sometimes I want to pout or bring it up in complaint, that I asked for only one weekend off in September and October, and no time off in November and December (knowing he probably wouldn't give it to me since it's holiday season), and I didn't get the weekend in September and he said "we'll see" for the weekend in October, when 3 people got today off. BUT, I knew it wouldn't do me any good right now, and I just needed to focus on the work that needed to be done today, and worry about that later, or just forget about it.
It was a pretty smooth, kind of slower day today. It was nice because I still got to sit down, eat some toast, and take a break. It's sometimes difficult working in a restaurant because it's so hot in the back, and with this whole experience of my body changing and sustaining for two, it gets difficult sometimes, especially since I have to wear a hat and sometimes a headset, so the break was very nice, and I usually take longer trips to the back walk-in so I can cool down a bit. Catherine is fun and Matt is nice and Farani was in a good mood, so work was pretty chill and relaxed today.
When I clocked back in after my break, Farani had me make some pastries because Saturdays at 8, the pastries go half off. We were running low on two cheesecakes and some eclairs so he had me prep those. I don't think he realizes the process, because I can't just cut them and bring it up front, but I have to make it look nice and add to it, so I made sure he knew, because I didn't want him getting all flustered about it. And... I didn't tell him, but I had never made eclairs before. I've seen Heather and Charlotte make them plenty of times, but I just took the recipe and assembly instructions out of the book and followed it. It took me a little while and they didn't look perfect, but they looked pretty good for a first timer. I took a picture and sent it to Charlotte and Heather and they said they both looked pretty good. Yes, they didn't look as clean as when Heather or Charlotte makes them, but the only other difference I kind of saw, was that some of mine were heavier than others. I know that comes with the eclair shell, some are kind of flattened and others are more fluffy, but I did my best and followed the instructions and what I see Heather and Charlotte do. After I was finished was when I told Farani I had never actually made them before. He asked if I tasted one and I said no. He went straight back to the walk-in with Matt. I think he just wanted any type, even if it was a weak, of an excuse so he could eat one. With mouths full, Matt and Farani said they tasted good. I kind of just rolled my eyes and left since that was the last project for me before I was able to leave.
After work, Bryce met me at the dentist office so we could clean that. Bryce figured I would want a break but I knew if I took a break, I wouldn't want to do it at all. So I started and Bryce came and helped with the rest.
We ate across the street at a pretty good quesadilla place. It's cheap, and we didn't want to cook since we were going to start fasting in half and hour from the time we finished cleaning the office anyway, so we could break it tomorrow with Bryce's family. It was pretty good and I was satisfied that I didn't have to go back to the apartment and cook something.
When we got back to the apartment, I told Bryce I wanted to hang out with someone. I didn't want to just sit around the apartment and rest. Although I need plenty of rest, I feel as though I feel better when I am up and about, moving, and doing things with or for other people. So, Danielle invited us over, with some other people, to play games, and Bryce got a hold of Lans and Cami and they also invited us over to watch a movie. I wanted to spend time with Danielle, of course, because we've been awesome friends for over 8 years now, but I also wanted to spend time with Cami and Lans since they are still kind of new and don't know many people. I've seen Danielle the past 3 days in a row and count that as a blessing :) and I get to see her tomorrow at church, and they had already invited others over, so I knew they wouldn't be by themselves, so I figured we would spend some time with Cami and Lans.
So Cami rented "Angry Birds" from RedBox and we had just been told by a friend that it wasn't that great. Lans said his brother, who is a drill sergeant, loved it and thought it was hilarious for a kids' movie. So, we figured we'd give it a shot. And, if we didn't like it, it wasn't as though we had to watch the whole thing. We all thought it was actually pretty good. I heard us all laughing multiple times throughout the movie so I figured everyone was enjoying themselves. Now I'm not saying it's the best movie ever, but not bad, and it wasn't a movie we had to worry about. It was family friendly and didn't really slow down at all. I would say I wouldn't be bummed if I never watched it again, but I wouldn't be completely bored if a situation called for me to watch it again.
We brought our new game, Speak Out, to show them if anything because it was kind of late, but they wanted to try it out, so we played it for a little while. It was super funny. You have mouth pieces that stretch out your lips so you can't really put them together, and you try to speak phrases, while your partner tries to guess what you are saying. It was very difficult to be Bryce's partner because he just couldn't stop laughing at me. And it's also difficult because when your partner doesn't get the word, it's difficult to do anything other than just repeat the word and hope they try to say a different word, which makes it more fun to watch especially.
They also had a new game, so we tried that for a couple of rounds before we left. It's kind of like Apples-to-Apples, but with pictures, and the pictures are quite odd for the most part, but it was pretty fun, so at least we have some options now and it'll keep get-togethers interesting :P and lively. ;)

****
So. As I said before, I like being up and moving, being with or helping others. As I have started the journey of being preeeeeegnant, especially this week, I feel as though I have been thinking more of myself, turning in little bit more inward, and that's not something I want. I want to look outward, to see others, and to help others MORE, and through doing so, I will know how to better take care of myself, and some of the aspects of my life will be taken care of, through the service and time I give to others. I was reminded of that this week. Being at work, especially, makes me think a lot about myself, and it's not the most fun. I think about and dwell on the fact I don't feel 100%. I feel as though anything less than 100% is no fun. But when I talked with coworkers and helped others, I didn't think about it so much. I didn't feel it so much. As I stayed busy, I didn't feel anything.
When Bryce and I decided to invite Danielle and Phil to eat our dinner after we had eaten theres, knowing that I had to take the crockpot and put it in the back of my vehicle, drive to their house, continue to cook it, go get Bryce and bring him back to their house, serve them up, help set the table...
Cleaning the dentist office, going to work (even though not everyday am I excited to be there, which I am working on), just going over to Danielle's house and talking with her and hanging out with her and Ethan, hanging out with Cami and Lans and getting to know them better and playing games that make you look and sound ridiculous, with no reservations...
Doing all those things this week was a treasure, an ADVENTURE. It helped me to be as Christ is, humble and kind, giving selfless service to all, teaching, and encouraging progression and necessary change. I want to be as He is. I want to do all I can to serve and help others. If I didn't have to worry about providing for myself and Bryce and our future family, I would probably buy all the homeless people I see, while driving to work, food everyday, maybe some blankets and a tent. I would want to give funds to the humanitarian efforts the church is known for, temple construction, missionaries, fiends who may be in debt.... I would want to give all I had to others.
It is as the scriptures say, "And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order." (Mosiah 4:27)
I am not asked to give all I have. Heavenly Father doesn't expect me to give all I have, physically. That would be part of a higher law we haven't been asked to live quite yet. However, I have been asked to give of all I am, inside, which is something I strive to do, amongst my many pleadings of forgiveness for my weaknesses and mistakes that keep me from doing so. But that is part of the beauty of this life. We are not asked to be perfect right now. We are not capable of giving our whole selves right now. With the conditions of this life, it is not possible, except for the One and Only Begotten Son, who lived before us, and provided the perfect example.
He is the one we should strive to emulate. We should strive to do as He did. We can't walk on water, we cannot part seas, we cannot forgive others of mistakes they make. That is not what is asked of us. That is not what we are striving to emulate. We strive to be like Christ in thought, word, and service. We don't need the ability to bring forth the miracles He did. We do not need the ability to provide witness, as He did. We can perform many might miracles in the simple, ordinary, humble ways we know how, which can bring for happiness, joy, strength, light, and love, to the lives of others, which can bring forth a mighty change of heart or a might strength in heart.

Shower of Heavenly Blessings

As we choose to come to Him and not walk or run away from His loving, open, outstretched arms, and believe we are able to receive His many blessings, as we shutout negativity, doubt, sadness, as we shut the adversary out, as we put down the barrier and reach out our arms towards acceptance and love, we will be showered upon, with endless blessings.
