How long has it been since I have posted on this blog?
Do I really want to look?
Should I really dwell on it?
I have been thinking about starting it back up probably ever since I began to forget about it.
I am so not good at journaling. It's pretty disappointing to think so many wonderful blessings have come and gone and are still prevalent in my life, and I have yet to write about them.... It truly is a bummer but hey, we have to start somewhere.
I wanted to start back up when I graduated, got engaged, got married... I wanted to start back up on my birthday, then I forgot. I wanted to start back up on my rebirth day, then I forgot. I wanted to start back up many times and kept forgetting, forgetting, forgetting.
So, now that I have bummed myself out for so long about how I haven't been journaling at all, now it's time to make up for it, pick myself up, and get started now.
I want to do a 365 day challenge, and although I am kind of going from not journaling at all to trying everyday, I figure it's worth a shot because I can't really regret it if I even make it decently far, because it's a big step from where I am now, with not much of a record of my current events at all...
I don't care if anyone enjoys this except for me. I mean, I would hope that someone could benefit from at least something I post here and there, but if it ends up being just for me, then I am okay with that.
I just want to start off this challenge saying hi, and I hope you have had a great day today. I hope you know how blessed you are because I know I am very blessed. My life isn't easy nor it is always "fair." Circumstances don't always go my way, but I do my very best to try and find the lesson to be learned in any difficult circumstance or any situation that I didn't expect, which one usually comes up each day of my life, which then gives me the opportunity to see the hand of God in my life. It gives me the opportunity to be thankful each and everyday. I pray for safety everyday. I pray for protection and strength. I thank Heavenly Father for allowing me to travel in safety, to be an instrument in His hands for yet another day.
I am given so much so why not give back in return, even if it is something small. I gave a water bottle and $2 to a man on the side of the road because that was all I could give him at the time, and he looked me in the eyes with much gratitude. How often do we take even a sip of water for granted? How often do we take the comfort of our many luxuries for granted...
I strive to be grateful in all things. I strive to show extra gratitude even when others think I don't have to or it make take an extra moment to eat or get somewhere, just because I want to give thanks. Is it such bad thing?
I grateful for my life.... my family, friends, circumstances.... my apartment, even when the college guys next door have... a lot of fun, and scream and laugh a little loud... my hands and feet, my eyes and ears, my nose, mouth, my body, my heart... I have a wonderful husband who supports me in all things even when he may not understand himself. He puts himself aside so he can serve the Lord and serve me, before himself, and I am honored he puts me second to the Lord, and I can see him serve others.
My family is always there for me and even though we have so many differences, I believe that is what brings us closer together. If we were all the same, wouldn't that just be a boring family. God made us unique so we can rejoice in our differences, and learn how we can best support each other through understanding and love. My family is all over... we all have to travel to see any family member. I think I have the most influence on them since I got married recently and was able to get them all to come to me. *Laugh. ;) And they do a great job showing me their love which is cherished every time. And I have been deemed the best gift giver, so I have to at least keep that up so they can be reminded of my love for them often, especially during holidays and birthdays. *Big smile.
I have so much going for me that even when something goes wrong, it's easy to pick myself up. I am not saying I am rich or have lots of talent or have the best job or am a "cut above the rest." My uniqueness and amazingness and talent isn't always seen on the outside, even though I know I have some that I hope can be noticed for good here and there, God has made me who I am because he needed an Alexandra Maureen Hayes Larson on this earth to make things happen. I. Am going to make things happen. Big or small, who knows, but through His means, I will accomplish great things.
I was watching "How to Train Your Dragon" earlier today and during the credits I remembered and told Bryce that some of the music they use for the credits is the same music used for a Mormon Message created with quotes from one of our living apostles today, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, called "Moments That Matter Most." In the Mormon Message, it shows clips of children, teens and parents, and after more than half of the video, Elder Uchtdorf's voice is heard saying, "We would do well to slow down a little, focus on the significant, lift up our eyes, and truly see the things that matter most,"...
Moments That Matter Most
"Strength comes not from frantic activity, but being settled on a firm foundation of truth and light. It comes from paying attention to the divine things that matter most. Diligently doing the things that matter most, will lead us to the Savior of the world." This video showa many circumstances we may relate to or circumstances we experience amongst the hustle and bustle of life... but the video allows us to see that spending time with family and friends, strengthening talents and enjoying the many blessings provided around us, is what matters most in this life, that strengthening those relationships allows us to also strengthen our relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He is the one who has given us everything. So why not give of ourselves as often as possible in return?
Where are our priorities? Are they in the correct order? Let us evaluate, refocus and strive to be our best selves for HIM and others. It is through Him we gain all.
LOVE. HOPE. STRENGTH.
