Today is Labor Day.
I had to labor on Labor Day. Lame.
I did get to start later than usual, 9 instead of 6, but it wasn't the best day for me. I wasn't in the best mood, mostly because I knew friends didn't have to go to school today or many of them didn't have to work either. I had to work. We don't get many holidays off outside of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think those may be the only two.
Anyway, I would say my work day wasn't the greatest because I had a down-right sour attitude. I did my best to "fake in until I make it." I just didn't want to be there so it was really difficult to have patience with some people. Although I did my best to be kind and encouraging, inside, and you didn't have to go very deep, I was just thinking I wanted people to just walk in and walk out, or just drive away, or just order something simple I could just go get and get them gone. It was nothing against any of the people that came through. I just didn't want to serve anyone and I wanted it to be pretty dead today so I could go do what I wanted to do... mostly relax, spend time with Bryce, and enjoy the holiday not working.
I would say I felt pretty bad after work. I was pretty tired since I worked from 8:55 to 3:05 without a break, being on my feet the whole time, going in any direction, back-tracking, and retracing steps. I felt bad because I knew the day could've been better had I just had a better attitude, the work day, not the whole day. After work everything was great, but the morning could've been better.
Christ always had patience. He made sure people, especially the pharisees, knew when they had done something wrong with a little chastening, but He always had patience. Just because you chasten, doesn't mean there hasn't been patience. If you have patience and don't say anything and continue to allow people to go on doing things that aren't right, that's just limits both sides' ability to progress. So. For me, I acted and appeared as though I had patience, but I would be really hard on people when they left. I held people to a standard that was unfair and unreachable to them if they were not fully equipped with the knowledge to put them at that standard.
It was a day to be learned from, as is any day really... I need to just get over myself sometimes, and just remember that I am someone who had made commitments and even when I don't want to fulfill them, if I have made the commitment, I need to buck up and have a positive attitude about it and soon enough, I'll be able to move on.
After work I was able to finally sit down, well, lay down once I got back to the apartment, and rest a bit. Bryce's truck overheated... again. I keep telling him he needs to just go get it checked but he tells me it's going to be winter soon and he won't need to worry about it since it has to do with some connection with the engine when the AC is on.
We were able to go hang out with friends and swim, which was fun. We had pizza, played games, and just hung out and talked. It was nice to just see familiar faces and spend time catching up and just not worrying about all the other things we have to do throughout the week.
So it ended up being a pretty relaxing night and I am glad Heavenly Father still blessed me with that even though I may not have deserved it, considering this morning's thoughts and actions...
He is a merciful Father and loves us lots. He will bless us even when we don't think we deserve it, but when that happens, for me, it kind of makes me feel a little bit worse, because I don't feel like I deserve anything. I mean, I don't really ever feel like I am entitled, but when I have been progressing, with minimal mistakes or fallbacks, it's a bit easier to accept blessings.
So.I need to make sure I do better tomorrow so I can show I don't want another day like today to occur. I want to progress, not digress, and I know as I rely on Him and include Him in the process, it's possible.
